Hi

I became a HAM this 2017 Easter. I took the Barc January Ham Licence Course for 10 weeks and came out with basic plus honours. I truly do feel honoured to be a Ham. During the course I realized there are many different avenues to enjoy and get involved in with becoming a Ham Operator. I truly haven't looked back as I discover more and more.

I'm new with Ontars and enjoy, on the Air time to do check ins/traffic reports/signal reports and anything else a person may want to add onto their conversation.

I also find myself attending meetings with the Barrie Club as well as the Orillia Club. These meetings can be a fun social evening as well as informative. How the hell did I become ( BARC) Secretary I keep asking myself? I don't do secretary stuff. Lol

I've been to one field day and one lighthouse event and was a little late for a beach event, got there but contact was very little. Ended up becoming a timmies visit, nice social, learning event. It's so cool to see other Hams set up their rigs and portable antennas, then off they go to make contacts around the world. I look forward to the day I will set up our  BitX40 we are currently building, ok, not me, my other half VE3PNN with the

help of VE3THR.  I/did help with our portable anntenna :) Next Event! I plan to be ready to join other HAM`s :) These contests gives certificates for your shack wall.  And Adding: Outside, setting up,  weather conditions and just plain having fun making contacts around the world!

Your  contacts/accomplishments (Certificate) get sent out to you to add on your shack wall. Well geez count me in!

I also found out about a WAX group within  BARC. These Peeps like to build and creat every week. They even take breaks from building to Social lize, Learn new things and this list goes on to, a nice Pot Luck Dinner just before Christmas. I now find myself getting involved with creating, Pouches for `Go to Kits`using another passion (sewing) although I'm not a sewer and just like to try. Check out the pic below of two pouches made, more to view as I create more possible down the road.

Thank you goes out to Mike VE3 MKX who suggested these pouches and has a need for one as well, Glad to help, Keeps me creating And,

busy while once again, learning, and having fun, Being a  HAM is very enjoyable, no matter what age. I like being a Ham, I have many passions and happy to add Amature Radio Operator to them.

My other half of 25 yearsVE3PNN is with me in this pic,   this pic was taken by Barry when we found ourselves enjoying a lunch with the Ontars group that I knew nothing about at that time!  I wasn't a ham when this man ( Barry)  came to us and started snapping our pic  lol

My new mic with a boom  plus I bought a fooot pedal

i am so excited to use this once our shack takes place =
