Ham Member Lookups: 1337

Over the half century in age when I became a ham in the spring of 2009. Taking a basic course with the local club (Georgian Bay Amateur Radio Club), earning the qualification of Basic (+). My first station was modest, a used Icom IC-707 HF radio and a club 2 metre rig as well. Started with a G5RV at about 20' got me on the air. 1 year later when I wrote the Advanced test and passed.

My new QTH is in Strathmore Ab, 50 km east of Calgary. With a new home, my plans were changed for me. In the house I built a workstation with 12 vdc power. My station is now mobile / portable. With a Kenwod TM-281A in the pick-up and a V-82 HT and KX-2 for portable / SOTA.

Depending on the summit I use a various dipoles and masts. I fnished my first year of SOTA with 104 points and 35 Summits hiked.

For camping I use a Alpha Antennas "Alpha Match" and a MFJ-1979 telescoping antenna fixed onto of a 8' painters pole for HF.
