Active From April 2016-2017 Standard  (now an EchoIRLP node call)

FORMERLY V K 2 F O X D

A big shout out from VK2GIB in TOUKLEY New South Wales Australia. QF56SR

Situated mid way between Sydney and Newcastle on the East Coast of Australia.

Elevation at the QTH is Approx 22m above Sea Level , and as you can see from pics below, Im surrounded by H2O with the Pacific Ocean a mere 3min drive East.

We boast beautiful beaches and clear waters in surrounding regions.

A little about me........

In February 2015 I acquired my Foundation call.

I upgraded to Standard call in Feb 2016 , and then upgraded to ADVANCED in April 2017.

VK2GIB is now my primary call - VK2VCC is an EchoIrlp node

I have had many years in radio (namely 27Mhz) , and a fond memory of a small 40CH AM on my BMX bicycle. A motor cycle battery , a whip antenna - Voila!

Being in radio has found me a few good Amateur Radio friends. My career sees me using some form of radio comms through any given day , so speaking into a microphone is nothing new.

I operate a  Flex-3000 SDR , with a  Heil PR40 / Baby Bluebottle Cardoid mics.

I have a good collection of Microphones , so i sometimes play around with that Ultimate Audio we all seek.

I complement these Radios with a ZS6BKW / G5RV wire , plus a K4KIO Hexx Beam 6 band and a Kenwood TL922A amp.

I do like my "ladder like" MBA-3300 sloper wire with good low noise results.

A 1/2 wave 6m vertical has recently gone up and stands alone on a 6metre Galvanised Pole with good results.

In the shack i also have an MFJ998 Tuner ,  KENWOOD SM220 , a desktop PC with HRD Logging software ,CAT control and waterfall.

The QTH is surrounded by salt water lakes and the Pacific Ocean nearby. My elevation is only 22m above sea level , however I achieve great results on HF.

I hope to work many new contacts with my extra band allocation. I frequent 40m often , so listen for my call and hopefully see you on 20m and 6m .

I frequent Digi modes alot on 40m/20m  , great signals and good reports to date using 30W generally through the Hexx Beam.

Now with my extended band allocation , listen out for me on my extras.

Since April 4th 2017 the VK2VCC call , is used to operate an Embedded IRLP and Echolink node.

IRLP 6789

Echolink 821246

STOCKTON BEACH , NEWCASTLE (East Coast) with the '78 Toyota Shorty FJ40 and crew. "TOYOTA COUNTRY"

My Blue shorty has an ALINCO DX70-TH onboard with a screwdriver Antenna up front.

Wreck of "the Sygna" in the background.

The ship ran aground in Bad storms of 1972. The Crew were rescued and brought to shore by the RAAF helos (Royal Australian Air Force)

With the recent ECL (East Coast Low) that formed in May 2016 , battered the East Coast of Australia with heavy rain and damaging winds plus swells of 8mtrs. This visible ruin of many years has been diminished to a mere piece of lasting metal. (pic uploads shortly)

This beach was preparing for a Japanese invasion back in the day. Anti tank concrete pyramids are scattered across the beach. And I believe Mad Max original movie was filmed at this beach in part (Tin City - a colony of small corrugated iron homes still housing local residents)
