I take a interest in HF Pactor and now Dstar to which I nearly all ways on portable with 023C.

  My rarest contact was:

At 2 am one morning I was beaming short path to EU to where a commercial passenger Airliner Captain said  was talking via HF to a sailing boat in  the Mederitian sea directly under him.  In our three-way conversation by HF  "20 M" he explained he had a special permit from his Company.  He was allowed to operate on the Ham band of HF on the plane. (Most likely  they can transmit anywhere across the band if the truth was only known ).

I then talked to both of them on HF in turns while the other listened.   I believe this would be one of the rarest contacts I have ever made and  I will remember this forever.

These days I play with Winlink digital modes  supplying a service as Shore Station to Maritime mobile via HF wherever they may operate from.

I am also on DStar whenever the time permits but I have Dstar now in my car and always on 023C.
