G'day, thanks for checking me out, first licenced on 15 Dec 1997.

I have always had an interest in radio, starting at a young age with a Crystal set I built from a kit and a short wave radio my father gave me.  The "obsession" grew with my father buying a Sandman Panal Van (who remembers those?) that had a CB in it, that was quickly removed and I was allowed to use it down in the shed.  Later in life, after joining the Army and posted to Wagga Wagga, still into CB radio, I met a wonderfull bloke that lived just around the corner, he was a ham, Bazz VK2MUZ, now VK2KUZ.  He introduced me to Amateur Radio, so it's all his fault, which has led me to where I am today.

I have retired from the Australian Army (joined in 1980 got out for 12 years and then back in till Dec 16) and I am married to Jenny (VK4FJMP) for 33 years now (2016) I have four kids and 11 grandkids.

This is my old "work office" and my wife Jenny and I. I now work for RCS Telecommunications

I am interested in Slow Scan TV (SSTV), I also enjoy D-Star and can be found on Reflector 003 C (most times).

I am also intrested in Photography, Geocaching, 4wding and camping.

Below is our Caravan and me in the shack.

I have been researching previous holders of my callsign.

This just in,VK4DA – Eric Eggleton [SK]. Exp Licence Toowoomba 1924.

Main interest field days and said to be involved with or attached to the RFDS. Employed by the QATB, Eric became superintendent at Stanthorpe, then transferred to Caloundra and Dayboro.

No post-war activity, the call VK4DA was next taken up by Max Swaby, Dalby grazier “Timberline”,in the sixties. The callsign was not used In the seventies and eighties. More to follow on Max soon.

The callsign was then issued to LW Hawkins from Bundaberg, Qld around 2007.
