I was first licensed as VK5ZFM in 1960 and upgraded to VK5ZK in 1961.

I can operate on all bands from 1.8mhz to 1.2ghz.

My current interest is DX chasing. Now focusing on FT8 for most DX.

Current rigs include IC7600 and IC9100 for HF and 6m.

A THP HL-1.5KX linear is used at times. It just idles along at the power levels allowed in VK.

The IC9100 is also used for the VHF/UHF bands .

Goolwa is located on the coast 80km south of Adelaide, the Capital City of South Australia.

The 3el SteppIR was installed 14th November 2012.

The River Murray, Australia's longest river, enters the Southern Ocean near Goolwa.

The waters around the Murray Mouth are excellent for fishing and other water sports.

The prize fish in this area is the Mulloway. This one was just big enough to keep.

With all this beautiful water close by one just has to have a boat.

The Oscar W is a fine example of the wood fired paddle steamers that carried cargo

on the River Murray, including wool and wheat, up to the 1890's when the railways took over.

The Oscar has been fully restored, is powered by the original steam engine,

and regularly cruises with tourists out of the River Port of Goolwa.

Sunrise over the River can be quite brilliant at times.

The previous 2 photo's were taken from the front of my QTH.
