The OQRS is now activated via clublogs. Please use the OQRS to request QSL cards and save the trees.

This is the OQRS Link: https://secure.clublog.org/logsearch/VU7KV

However, if you prefer to mail me a letter, please make sure you use nice colored postage stamps instead of the printed postage stickers.

Donations: We have not sought any sponsorship, but will gladly accept any donations

to defray the cost of the operation. A big thank you to all that have made a contribution.

[August 25, 2013] All OQRS and direct mail QSL requests received until July 22, 2013 have been mailed out. It is possible that

when multiple QSL stickers are involved, some QSL's might have missed a sticker. I am preparing new QSL's for those handful of folks. My apologies. Rushing to process all those 800+ requests for both operations caused some errors. I will soon be processing all requests received since July 22, 2013.  Everyone will receive a card. I have also been a bit behind on doing another upload to Lotw for those that requested via OQRS.So please stay tuned and have some patience.

[June 13,2013] We now have only about less than a 100 envelopes that will need to be opened up between 8Q7KP & VU7KV. We have logged the QSL requests in our database for all the ones that we have opened up and uploaded the QSO's to Lotw for all donors. The QSL design has been finalized and we will printit in a week. In another 3-4 weeks, the cards will start going out.

[June 4, 2013] Today we heard from NC1L, Bill Moore of ARRL that VU7KV has been approved for DXCC credit. I am still awaiting the

Lotw certificate.

[May 26, 2013] I have already sent to ARRL all the papers required for an approval of the operation. So please stay tuned.

[May 26, 2013]The printer kicked back the images for the QSL, since they were 75Dpi. I had to upscale them to 300Dpi and have

resent the images. So please bear with us as we get the cards printed. It will be atleast a month to 2 months for the cards to be sent out.

[May 26, 2013] All pending emails on log correction have been answered. If anyone spots an issue, please email me.

I was unable to upload pictures while the operation was underway, but now that i am back home in NC, i was able to edit and add pictures.

Activation of VU7KV will be between May 2 - May 5th 2013

update May 5, 2013

The internet connection has been real bad yesterday. I think i missed the opportunity to work NA, while i was working EU on 12m.

Today will be ATNO and NA focus in the evening. I will work EU/JA during my daytime.

We are looking for 12/10m openings, but have not hit it for NA so far.

We will go QRT at 18:29z on May 5, 2013( This is at the strike of the clock for May 6th, local time)

The plan is to take down the vertical during the daytime. Will make arrangements to remove the hex after midnight, that way

will have another opportunity to work NA. The boat/chopper leaves at 7am on May6th and need to be all packed up by then.

I have a lot of emails on log correction etc. i will tend to them as time permits. I have both 8Q7 and VU7 requests pending.

update May 4, 2013

The pileups have been huge. The 17m spreads are not enough due to the bandwidth and everyone calling from everywhere

and no one will stop. Atleast there is compliance to a good extent and that offers some hope for the hobby :)

The real-time logging is not fool proof. The Clublog gateway software sniffs the log entries are the Qso's are made and it

then pushes one qso entry at a time to the clublogs server. The 2G internet connection in the island is very unreliable.

When the connection drops, the gateway does not know what to do with the Qso that it has, since it cannot send to the

clublogs server. So the Qso appears missing in the QRZ.com clublogs widget that displays the last 10 Qsos.

Not to panic. The entire logs are in N1MM and i upload it to clublogs once or twice a day.

Also please do not call if you are not supposed to. It only increases the time i need to devote to figuring out if you are

supposed to call. If it is a violation of my request, you had expended valuable time. Also provide complete calls when

calling. It works to your advantage. In a large pileup, if your signal is weak and i can pick you up and give you a report with

minimum time, then i will do so. If it is going to take a few tries, i might just move away to maximize the number of Qso's.

Please use standard phonetics. If there is a difficulty in copying one phonetic, please change to a different phonetic. Your

voice quality, any accent and the strength of signal dictates what the listener hears.

The plan is to work Rtty on May 4th and continue to focus on 12/10m. May 5th will be the last day and i might focus on both

10/12m and look for people needing VU7 for an ATNO.

updateMay 3, 2013

We had some friends pull to make VU7KV a reality, given that there was an issue with the accommodation and

the entire plan was to fall apart. Thanks to Chetan VU3DMP and also to Shoukat Ali, the dive instructor in

Kavaratti for their kind help in relentless following through and facilitating my trip. We also have some good folks

down on the ground who helped with the antenna installation.

We arrived by a chopper from Agatti and the lugguage followed on via a larger vessel. The lugguage was trailing

behind by 3 hours and i used the time to plan the antenna/station setup. The lugguage arrived at 4pm, we then

installed the vertical by 6:30pm. Then the crew wanted to install the hex at night, since they are busy during the day.

We got to it and finished the antenna installation by 9:30pm. All is well except for the sleep deprivation and falling

asleep while on the radio. But the pileups have been huge and we want to stay on to give those Qs.

update April 30, 2013

The airtickets from Chennai->Kochi->Agatti has already been booked. The government travel agency has been

paid for the accommodation at Kavaratti. All paperwork has been sent to have the get rolling to work with the

Govt to get the travel permit to visit Kavaratti. They are also arranging the transportation from Agatti->Kavaratti.

They say it will be a speed boat (3hours by sea) or a chopper. The permit will be issued either on Apr30 or May 1, 2013

i am told. It is down to the wire and is last minute. I will keep everyone update.
