Ham Member Lookups: 5315

My interest in radio began at age 12 when I met several ham operators where I grew up in North Dakota. I aquired a Hallicrafters short wave receiver but was sidetracked by other activities in a young person's life so a ham license was postponed until after college, marriage, and the birth of two daughters.

Motivated a second time I passed my Novice ticket at the Sioux Falls Radio Club in 1983 then over the next 6 years moved through General, Advanced, and the 20 WPM CW Extra Class. My activity on the bands was sporatic with job and family but picked up in 2005 with my retirement from an insurance career providing time. I felt a need to further my communications knowledge so in 2014 aquired the FCC Commercial Radiotelegraph Operator License, an interesting and fun experience.

My wife Lois holds the call KA0VBG and we enjoy amateur radio, visiting friends and family, and traveling the Country together as full time RVer's. We're active in The RV Service Net, RV Radio Network, and Family Motor Coach Association ARC, attending related events, and providing public service if needed. Operate SSB, CW, and Winlink with an Icom 7100 and mobile antenna.
