I was first licensed as WN0QBX in September, 1953 at 15 years old.  The following April I upgraded to General and held that license class until 2012 when I decided to try for my extra class.  I really hurt my old brain to study for that class but I made it!

I sold all my old AM gear in 1960 and was semi-inactive until 1966 whenever I discovered SSB.  That developed into DX chasing and I ended up with around 250 countries.  When I retired in 2000 I renewed my interest in boatanchor AM operation and I started collecting a LOT of 40's, 50's, and 60's tube-type AM gear.  I started innocently enough with an S-38 since that was my first piece of short wave gear and that exploded into 30+ receivers, a half dozen of AM transmitters, and some early SSB transceivers.  I love to talk with the MOKAM (Missouri-Kansas AM) guys on 3885 during the week.  What a great group of guys!  Oh yeah, I do have a TS950 that I occasionally use on SSB.  I use a HyGain AV620 for 20M up
