First licensed in August of 1957 as KNØLHE, upgraded to Conditional class in March 1958, Advanced class in April 1975 and Extra class in September of 1976.

I obtained the call sign WØUY in December of 1977 prior to the vanity call sign program.

My favorite mode of operation is CW.

With the return of  Midway and Kure, I again have 336 of the possible 339 DXCC Entities confirmed on CW. The entities I still need are:  P5, SV/A and ZS8. In the spring of 2017 I completed 80 meter CW DXCC which also completed 5BDXCC.

My low band antennas are a trapped inverted L for 80 and 160 meters transmit  and two 480 foot, bi-directional Beverage receive antennas using DX Engineering hardware.

Rigs include;  Elecraft K1 and K2 radios for QRP and portable operation. My QRO station is an Elecraft K3 with a KAT500 Tuner and KPA500  Amplifier.

I taught Electronics and Computer Technology at Hutchinson Community College for 25 years retiring in 2005.

Please do not send QSL cards via the bureau. I will confirm our QSO via LoTW or with your SASE.

If you need my card and do not use LoTW or cannot provide a SASE then email me at the address above to arrange a different confirmation method. I am no longer returning bureau cards due to increased processing fee.

KS QSO Party:  I will be W0Y again during the 2017 KSQP. See W0Y listing for QSL information.
