Bluff Point is in the Finger Lakes of Western New York, near the town of Penn Yan. The photo of Keuka Lake was taken a mile from our home.  The deer and turkey pictures were taken by game cameras on our property.

Ham activities included cw and rtty contesting, homebrewing, and a little DXing. I am currently on 160-10m  and 2m FM.

My station is set up  for qrp and low power SO2R contesting and consists of a pair of K3's,  P3's, KAT500's and LP-100A's. Audio and keying is swiched by a YCCC SO2R box. Antennas are switched by a KK1L band decoder and KK1L  2 x 6 relay switch that I built from his circuit boards. Transmit bandpass filters are switched with two more KK1L relay switches and Unified Microsystem band decoders. Antenna and bandpass filter switching is automatic, but I can manually select antennas as needed. N1MM+ software is used for contesting and I log all contacts in LOGic9.  The radio desk, which is on casters so it pulls out from the wall for access, and the shelves were made in my workshop.

Additional gear includes W3ZN and Bencher paddles, KPA500 and AL-800H amplifiers, R-8500 receiver (50 kHz to 2 gHz), KX3 portable station, TenTec Argosy transceiver, TenTec 238 tuner, Icom IC-228 2m rig, and Icom IC-2720 2m/440 in the truck, and a couple of older Icom ht's.

Current antennas are a XR3 yagi up 50 feet;  10m pole facing south; 2 element VE7CA wire yagi for 20m,15m and  10m at 45 feet pointed at Europe; 160m inverted-L and 80m vertical off the same radials; 80m dipole and two 40m dipoles (oriented N/S and NE/SW). The transmitting antennas are in the woods near the house. The switchbox for the 6 Beverage antennas is 600 feet north of my house. Initially I controlled the switchbox with CAT5 cable but after chipmonks kept chewing the control cable, I now use Green Heron Everywhere wireless cable to control the switchbox.

Memberships include ARRL, CWOPS, ARCI, NAQCC.

I have been fortunate to operate contests with the crew at W2FU in Webster, Monroe County which is 55 miles north of here.

I am a retired general surgeon. Non-ham activities include hunting, flyfishing, doing timber stand improvement in our woodlot, and woodworking. We heat with firewood from our woods. Currently I am serving as President of the New York Forest Owners Association.

This is my test gear cart. I use a GPS-Disciplined oscillator for a frequency standard. In the background is a work bench with mini-drill press and pc board shear.
