New call sign assigned 10/31/2015 - formerly W2GTX

Hello from the Fingerlakes region of Central New York State and THANKS for looking me up!! Here I am with my Wife, Marilyn (also a ham - WB2OGM) and our two shelties, Ollie and Mollie.

My background is mostly automotive, I'm employed as the Operations Manager for a chain of Tire and Auto Repair shops (www.trombleytireandauto.com). The picture above was taken for my (successful) campaign for our local Town's board. Besides the radio and Town politics, I enjoy photography, cooking, camping and personal computers of all kinds - Mac, Windows and Linux.

Currently, my shack consists of an Icom IC-7600 with a Heil PR22 Mic connected to an 80 meter "Carolina Windom"and a 124 foot Inverted "L" that works well on 160, 40, 20 and 15. Also a Icom ID-5100a for UHF/VHF.

I'm currently experimenting with HF portable operations, I have an Icom IC-7300 that has found a place in the shack but mostly is a 'grab and go' box.  I found a large tripod with a 19 foot fiberglass telescoping mast and am planning on trying single band wire dipoles, elevated-radial verticals and 'hamstick' dipoles PLUS whatever else comes along.

email is dbower58'at'gmail.com

We love our location, close to Auburn, Ithaca and Syracuse - Rochester is less than an hour away.

The corner of the basement office has become the 'Ham Shack', an Icom IC-7600 is my main HF rig, to keep things tidy, the UHF/VHF rig is a Icom ID-5100 mounted to the bottom of the desk and just the control head on the desk.

Our house - built in 1983 from solid red pine logs.

Our weekend retreat in the woods behind our house in the bottom of the Great Gully.

Over the years we've had many Shetland Sheepdogs - all have been rescue dogs - we found Mollie covered in cedar shavings at the

Sullivan County SPCA - she is now the pampered little girl she deserves to be.

The latest addition to the family came to us at 9 weeks of age.  Watson seems to like his new home and is adjusting quite well.
