I was first licensed in 1957 as KN8EVK, then K8EVK after upgrading to General Class. In 1967 I was hired as a pilot for Allegheny Airlines (later USAirways, now American Airlines) and moved to Pennsylvania. This required a callsign change and I was assigned WA3IOD. Later I voluntarily changed my call sign to W3GQ.
I am now retired and living in Terrell, NC (Catawba County) which is about 20 miles North of Charlotte, NC.
On January 1, 2013 the Carolina DX Association in Charlotte, NC, became the sponsoring club for incoming QSLs to the 4th call area (W4, K4, an N4 calls) and I was selected as the QSL Bureau Manager. The 4th call area has two QSL Bureaus, with all of the 2X calls (AA4, KB4, NC4, WD4, etc) going to the Sterling Park Amateur Radio Club in Sterling, VA.
