Welcome to my ham shack!

If you're here, you probably saw my call go by on WSJTX, PSK or CW Skimmer. I am an occasional contester and now a "little pistol" DXer with my new beam.

I've been a ham for over 50 years! I was WN4VLV as a Novice licensee, then WA4VLV as a General class licensee for many years, through starting a family (all hams now, I might add) and career. Then a few years ago I took the Advanced class exam and passed, then the Extra with 20wpm code and I've been W4JKL since.

My wife and I have retired and sold our home of many years and we have moved into a restored "century" home in rural Kentucky. Now my ham shack is in my small office off the living room.

The rig now is a new Icom IC-7300 and an ALS-500M amp. The antennas are the old 6BTV trap vertical with 36 radials crammed into the back yard and a new aluminum tower with a new TH-3JRS tribander. It's only up 35ft, but I live in town and that's the limit. I hope to get an inverted L antenna for 160m up in the old oak tree behind the house. It's tough to get antennas up in a quarter-acre lot!

No work bench yet, but I hope to get the spare bedroom cleaned out soon.

I prefer to QSL with LoTW, and I upload to eQSL also. I'd be happy to send you a paper QSL and I do use the BURO.

73,

John W4JKL

Love that new beam!
