I like vintage radios; currently have a Hallicrafters S-20R and a Drake transceiver as well as some more modern equipment. Also volunteer in The Southern Appalachian Radio Museum here in Asheville NC in the mountains of Western N.C. Web site is http:\\www.saradiomuseum.org. The site also tells about some of the attractions here in the mountains of NC.

Background: I have been an amateur for well over 50 years..learned code on a farm in 1943 and was licensed in 1949 while in the Signal Corps. Was originally licensed as W2AVT, then W4QCF, then N4EGQ and again became W4QCF. Finished school at Virginia Tech(VPI)in Blacksburg, Virginia and retired from FAA's budget office. Now live near North Carolina's Great Smoky Mountains. QRP a little and have built a number of tube-type transmitters, regenerative receivers and other electronic projects over the years.
