Northwest Mississippi D-Star Association

The Northwest Mississippi D-Star Association was founded in 2012 to promote the use of the D-Star Amateur Radio Mode of operation here in Northwest Mississippi.

In January of 2013 the Association filed for frequency coordination from SERA with the goal of being assigned VHF, UHF, and 1.2GHz repeater frequencies to construct a full D-Star stack system. SERA was finally able to approve our requests in December of 2013 and we were assigned the following frequencies:

---------------------------------------------------------

Output: 144.9600 Mhz Input: 147.4600 Mhz

Output: 442.0125 Mhz Input: 447.0125 Mhz

Output: 1282.0750 Mhz Input: 1270.0750 Mhz

---------------------------------------------------------

The intent of our design is to install a system that will provide HT coverage to the communities of Horn Lake, Walls, I-55 Southaven corridor, and Robinsonville. The system will be using yagi antennas to achieve the limited coverage area design. The repeater system is being built to augment the W4LET system that already provides excellent mobile and base station D-Star coverage to our area. We encourage mobile and fixed QTH stations to continue using the W4LET system when within coverage of that system.

The Association is now in the process of developing Grant Submissions to obtain the necessary funding to build out the system. Some of the Association's members have offered to loan the group different modules that will allow us to begin the build out process while funding is sought.

Below is a coverage map of the projected HT coverage that will become available initially on the UHF module.

The group is hoping to be able to offer the following coverage area once a taller site has been obtained.

This is a projected coverage map of the VHF module.

This is a projected coverage map of the 1.2GHz module.

The Association would like to invite any interested Amateurs to join us in our efforts. Please contact Steve, WB4IZC, at wb4izc@comcast.net for more information.
