I was first licensed in 1953 as a 15 year old high school student.  We started a ham club in our electrical class and I got the bug.  My first license was WN5ENU and later that year was able to drop the N after passing the General test.  During a few years in the US Navy I let the license expire.  After I was discharged and moved to Colorado I received WA0USE and then moved a few years later to Minnesota and upgraded to Extra and received N0BIH these were the years I was most active.  I semi-retired to Florida in 1990 and was not very active there.  Moved back to Minnesota for family in 2000 and found out the my old call was available so I am now W5ENU and my daughter Andrea is N0BIH and I am proud of her for wanting dad's old call.  Got to keep it the family and hope the have a grandson that is WA0USE someday, which would be a good tradition.   In 2012 a friend passed away and I picked up his station and started getting back active.

Spent my working career in the computer industry in many facets all the way from fixing them to selling them and then teaching computers and networks.  Still have many computers around the house at all times.

Currently running a FT-450D and HRD with a Signalink interface.  Antennas are very basic a longwire MyAntennas EFHW-8010-1K at 15 to 20 feet and a MFJ 1835 Cobweb at 25 feet.  Working digital modes almost all the time.  Primarily JT65 and JT9 and trying out the other modes when I get a bug.  My code speed had suffered with all the inactive years but working on it.  At one time CW was almost my only operating mode.  Still love it and will get back where I am comfortable in the pile-ups.  Update - it is comming back and having fun, making a few contacts and broke a couple of pile ups.

Thanks for stopping by and hope to make contact on the air someday.

Charles
