NORTHEAST MISSISSIPPI RADIO AMATEURS

w5nem.com                      Facebook: Northeast Mississippi Radio Amateurs

Hello all and welcome to our QRZ page.

Welcome to the Northeast Mississippi Radio Amateurs Radio Club (NEMRA, INC) serving amateur radio operators and amateur radio enthusiast in the North Mississippi area. The club encourages ham radio activities in all the areas open to amateur radio operators and all aspects of the hobby. The mission of the club is to further the exchange of information and cooperation between members, to promote radio knowledge, fraternalism, and individual operating efficiency, to provide a service to the community at large, and to conduct club programs and activities to advance the general interest and welfare of Amateur Radio in the community and, most of all, provide enjoyment, fun, and fellowship in the Amateur Radio hobby.

The club participated in several events throughout the calendar year that allows its members, prospective members and those interested in the amateur radio hobby, a chance to learn and improve communication skills and otherwise have fun and a good time. Some of these activities include but are not limited to:

  • Programs at regular scheduled meetings
  • Special training programs
  • Special work details (Hams Helping Hams)
  • VE Testing sessions
  • ARRL Field Day (#1 in 4F division 2013, 2014, and 2015)
  • MS QSO Party
  • Communication and assistance for local special events not amateur radio related

The club holds regular meeting on the second Tuesday of each month beginning at 6:45 pm local time with doors open at 5:45 pm for those ‘brown bagging’ supper and casual conversation prior to the start of the meeting. The meeting is usually located at the Itawamba ICDC building 107 W. Wiygul Street in Fulton, MS. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, other locations are available as needed.

The Itawamba County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is located at 1300 Access Road, Fulton, MS one the east side of the Tennessee Tombigbee Waterway just south of Main Street. This location is used as an operations center for the Itawamba County EMA and the NEMRA club has radios and antennas set up here to use as a permanent location. We utilize this location for our ARRL annual field day and for special events and programs related to the amateur radio community.

Daniel Shaw was in Tupelo on April 28, 2014 as the tornado formed and made this video. The background audio is the Stateline SKYWARN Net in progress. Net control is Jeff Clingan KB5NMB  - NEMRA Club President - ARRL Emergency Coordinator Itawamba County. Other members of NEMRA can also be heard, Joe AB5OR, Ken KB5DRD and Bobby K5TV. The tornado cut a 23 mile path of destruction across Lee and Itawamba Counties that afternoon.
