During my formative teenage years, an interest in CB Radio kick started my interest in Amateur Radio with its technical and electronic leanings.  During the mid 1970’s to the early 1980’s the CB Band was wide open and DX was incredible.  It stills brings back fond memories to this day.   My impetus to gain my amateur license was a desire to utilize the 53 MHz - 6 Meter Band to control Model Airplanes, my other hobby which I enjoy since my early childhood.  In 2003, I made the decision to take the time and study for the Technician License and subsequently passed.  Since this time, I have upgraded to Amateur Extra.

My main interest in Amateur Radio includes APRS, PSK31, and HF DX.  I also enjoy home-brewing antennas as well as kit building.  I long for the Heathkit days but I see a lot of potential with the advent of SDR.

I live in New Orleans, Louisiana with my lovely wife, Christi - KG5OGO and our four children.  My day job as a River Pilot on the Mississippi River is both challenging, exciting, and demanding.

Presently, I am a member of the Crescent City Amateur Radio Group.  My other interest include being an avid FreeBSD/UNIX user and system administrator as well as playing golf.

I hope to hear ya'll on the bands!
