Greetings!

2017 March Update: on Jan 9 2017 we encountered a fierce windstorm that clocked in at 109mph.  My Bencher Skyhawk and HyGain HyTower were destroyed as a result (see the damaged Skyhawk and toppled HyTower in the photos below).  My Force 12 30m/40m yagi survived the storm without any damage.  Rather than replace/repair the Skyhawk I decided it's time to shop for a new antenna, hihi.  I decided on a custom, heavy-duty version of the OptiBeam OB9-5.  Tom DF2FO was gracious, and designed and built an antenna with stronger elements and boom.  The end result is an antenna that weighs 91 lbs versus the 66 lbs in the standard version.  The new elements are massive, with the 20m element being 1-3/8" in diameter in the center.  The square boom is brilliant.  It resists torsion and keeps all elements on the same plane.  The antenna is a terrific both mechanically and electrically.  As for the damaged HyTower the fiberglass insulators at the base had completely broken off.  To make stronger new insulators I purchased a foot long of 3" diameter solid DuPont Delrin round stock.  With the help of James KI0KN we machined new insulators out of Delrin which has a tensile strength of 7,000 psi.  And most importantly Delrin is not brittle like the HyGain molded fiberglass material.  Living in Colorado all of my antenna hardware have been modified in one way or another in order to survive the fierce 'Chinook' winds that blow from Oct.-Feb., hihi.

Thank you for visiting this page. In 2011 I moved to Colorado. My new QTH is located next to the beautiful Carter Lake.

My interests in ham radio include low band DX'ing and antenna building/modeling.  After years of operating mostly on SSB and digital only I have recently caught the CW bug!  CW is now my favorite mode.  I'm still learning this beautiful mode so please excuse me if I mess up on my sending.  My paddle is a Vibroplex Iambic Deluxe.

My HF rig is a Yaesu FT-DX5000D. It's a fabulous transceiver with a world-class receiver and excellent DSP. For QRO I have a Tokyo Hy-Power HL-2.5Kfx amplifier. My antennas consist of a custom built, heavy-duty version of the OptiBeam OB9-5 five-bander yagi at 80 feet high and a Force 12 yagi for 30m and 40m at 74 feet high. For 80m and 160M I have modified, heavy-duty version of the HyGain HyTower and it works wonderfully in conjunction with a decent radial field (80 radials / 6,000' of wires).  RX antenna is the new Array Solutions SAL-20. For 6m the antenna is an Innovantennas five-element beam.  The tower is a US Tower TX-472MDP at 72 feet high.

When I'm not on the radio I enjoy helping new hams and getting involved with club activities. I'm also an avid cyclist and amatuer astronomer.

I was born in Taipei, Taiwan. I'm a naturalized U.S. citizen and I also hold a citizenship of Taiwan.

You may QSL me directly or via the buro.  I also upload my log to LoTW.
