My father "Doc" was the original holder of call sign W7IWW dating back to the mid-1930s.  He held the call until becoming SK in 1975.  He was an avid innovator and homebrewed equipment over his entire ham career.  My brother Jim (KL7JM) and I grew up with his inspiring example and eventually became licensed as K0IQM (Dave) and K0IQN (Jim) around 1960 when he and I were living in Colorado.

Over some 15 years Jim and I carried on regular twice a week schedules with Dad, W7IWW, who lived in Billings, Montana.

Just following Dad's passing in 1975, I moved to Billings after completing several years education, service in the military,  graduate training, and  then established a periodontic practice.  At that time, I became W7KZO, the call I held until the spring of 2010.

The year 2010 marked the 35th anniversary of Dad becoming SK, as well as the 100th anniversary of his birth.  Since his call sign never was reissued, Jim and I thought it would honor him to reactivate it.  So, Dave (ex W7KZO) is now signing W7IWW.
