Wireless communications have been an interest since I was a kid. I actually ended up with a career in wireless and have been fairly successful at it. Currently I do construction management on cell phone sites.

Early in 2016 I found out that code was no longer required to get a Ham license. That was all it took. A couple weeks later I took my Tech Test, and passed with flying colors, A couple weeks later I received my call, KI7DCF. 2 months later I took the general test (passed), and then field day 2016 I left the Superstition ARC field day site to head over to the Scottsdale ARC field day site for a VE session. Left field day as a General and came back as an Extra. That was one of the most unique testing sites ever. Was under a pop up, sitting in a camp chair, and had a couple of dogs roaming around.

Around end of October 2016, I was approached to be the new tech committee chair for Superstition ARC. The repeaters had some huge audio issues that needed to be addressed and werent gettign better. No fault of the existing tech committe chair, work and home life just never gave him the time to work on things. November 2016, I was elected to be a Board Member of the Superstition ARC.

The amusing thing is, I work on so many other systems that, it seems to take forever to get things up and running for myself.

Last weekend, 6/4/17, I finally managed to set up a home station. Right now I am running a 2M Vertically polarized 3 element Yagi poting due west, and a Alpha Delta DX-CC fan dipole with N-S orientation.

My HF rig is a TS-50, no amp, with the AT-50 tuner.

2M and 70cm is with a FT-8800R

I also have an AREDN mesh node up with an Ubiquiti AirGrid pointing WSW

Both of my vehicles run APRS and 2m and 70cm. I can normally be found on the WB7TJD, K7EAR, or W7ARA repeaters when I am out and about.
