Born and raised in Western Pennasylvania,  We haved lived in Ohio for over 50 years.  Served in the Army Signal Corps from Dec. 1955 - Dec. 1958 (30 months in Germany) as a radio op.  First licensed in 1977 as WD8SAU, upgraded to KI8X in 1979, when the vanity calls became available I applied and  received my current call (W8AR) in 1997.  Was pretty much off the air (occasional operating) for about 20 years then got the bug again and having a great time, chasing DX (251 Phone, 127 CW) and the occasional  Rag chew.  I am a ARRL Life member and active in the Masonic lodges.

Here are a couple of pix's of the QTH.

Top Left,  Station with upgraded Amp.

Top Right,  Front of QTH with 40 foot Tower and a 6 meter 3 element on a Glen Martin 8 foot tower on the roof.

Bottom Left,  View of A4S with 40 meter Add-on.

Bottom Right,  Back of QTH and 40 Foot tower

I have several additional antennas coming from the cross bar under the A4S, a 30 meter dipole which runs to several sections of old tower behind a shed at the back of our property up 20 Feet.  Off to the left in that same pix  where you see a trap is a 5 Band dipole up at 50 feet or so which I use mainly for 80 and 40 now but it was my main antenna till I got the tower up.  In the foreground is a receive only antenna, in the winter it works pretty good brings the 80 meter sigs up an additional 1 s unit.  I don't know why but it only seems to work during the late fall and winter.  Only had it 1 year so will see what happens this year.
