I was first licensed as WN8DLD in 1962 and became a general class WA8DLD in 1963. My activity slowed over the years as family and work took precedent but when I retired in 1999 from my position as operations manager for the Cleveland, Ohio power company my interest grew. I purchased an ICOM 756 at the Dayton hamfest, put up a G5RV and was on the air again. The call W8DLD was available so I applied for and received it in 1999.

The next year I put up a Mosley TA-53 with the 40 meter traps on a 30 foot tower. I still use the ICOM 756 with an AT-500 tuner and 2KL amplifier at 500 watts and have a long wire antennafor 80 and 160.

It was great getting back on the air in time for sunspot cycle 23 and I am enjoying cycle 24 just as much. I like 10 and 17 meters and have 303 countries on 10 as of December, 2011. I just joined Log Book of The World and I am working on getting all my confirmed countries on the ARRL site.

I am active on SSB, CW and some RTTY. Hope to see you on the air.
