Ham Member Lookups: 101

Hello from Southern California. Lake Elsinore to be exact. It is a mid-way point between Los Angeles, Palm Springs and San Diego. I started as a novice operator in 1976 while still in High School here in Lake Elsinore. I then went on to College, Marines and Corporate America and gave up amateur radio. Then after a few years, about 35 years working in Technology I decided to get my General license. I changed my Callsign from KK6DXT to W9DXT.

My Father-In-Law was a HAM from way back...  C.J.Dudley - N8HMW

He passed away years back and I took ownership of his old Kenwwod Radio. I was finally able to get it hooked up here recently (Jan 2015) and we are now up and running great on HF. I do not have much equipment but I do get out with what we have.

The Equipment Shown:

 - KENWOOD TS-430S with a KENWOOD MC-60 Mic

 - KENWOOD AT-250 Tuner and a DAIWA SWR Meter.

 - Connected to Homebrew 10 Meter Inverted-V Dipole on the roof pointing NE.

 - And a Homebrew 20 Meter dipole stretched across the roof of the house pointing NE.

 - KENWOOD TS-450S with a KENWOOD MC-42S hand held

 - Connected to an Inverted Dipole, a Buckmaster 7 Band Wire Antenna.

 - Yaesu T-8800 Dual Band, Yaesu YS-500 SWR/Power Meter, Yaesu FP-1030 Power Supply

 - Cobra Marine Band Radio for Marine Search and Resue on Lake

I am a member of Lake Elsinore Marine Search and Rescue (LEMSAR), RACES and ARES. We live in a pretty deep hole here on the lake (only about 1275' above sea level), with mountains all around us. I can get a good QSO from the EAST but North and West is almost impossible except in very rare circumstances. I can not hear anything from Los Angeles, San Diego, Northern California, sometimes Oregon and Washington. I have been able to make contacts in Hawaii when the conditions are just right.

LEMSAR is a volunteer group that is associated with the Riverside County Sheriff and the United States Coast Guard, we help watch and patrol the lake, assisting boaters as required 365 days a year. Here is a view from the window of my Ham Shack, looking Northeast. You can see Big Bear Mountain in the distance. It is a great place to live...

Thank you for visiting and I look forward to talking to you soon.

This is my Current QSL Card using my old Callsign and I will be sure to send you one when we make contact... 73...
