I was 1st Licensed in Feb 1955 (at age 15) as a Novice KN4CKF, I then upgraded in June to a Tech and became W4HGY, ( for some unknown reason the FCC didn’t just drop the “N” and I would have become K4CKF ). Any way as time evolved I finished High School and joined the USAF, finished my tour, and moved to Illinois where I upgraded again and became W9MXC. I also married my wife Linda and we had 3 children during the next several years. I hired in a McDonnell Aircraft Co. in 1962 as a Electronic Tech (EE), working on the F101 and F4 aircraft. I was promoted in 1965 to a Manufacturing Engineer in the Flight Testing Division working on the F4’s, later promoted to Section Manager on the remaining F4’s then moved to the Astronautics Division on the Mercury and Gemini Space Craft. Then back to the Aircraft Division to the new F-15’s, then DC-10 briefly then on to the F-18, AV8, and T-45 aircraft. I retired in April of 2009 with 48 years under my belt with McDonnell Aircraft which became McDonnell Douglas then The Boeing Company.

My hobbies other than Ham Radio which I love deeply are Antique Automobiles ( I have four, 1932 Chevy restored original, 1966 Mustang Coup restored original, 1968 Mustang Convertible restored, 1987 El Camino restored and now working on a 1986 El Camino). I enjoy photography, and I have been collecting Postage Stamps since I was 8 years old. Linda & I enjoy traveling and of course our two grand kids, our oldest daughter LeAnn, her husband Kelly and our only two grand children Tyler & Bryant lives here in Godfrey, our son Curtis and youngest daughter Ginny live in West Palm Beach, FL. I am very active in our local Radio Club, of which I help organize back in 1985, The “Lewis & Clark Radio Club Inc. K9HAM” , I am also an ARRL Instructor and VE, hopefully I can mentor and help replenish our ranks with young folks and older ones also, and give something back to the hobby I have truly enjoyed for so many years. OK that enough about me, hope to work you later on down the log book. 73’s & 88’s. Larry “ROB”
