Originally licensed as KN9WHF in 1960. Received Tech license 1 year later and General/Advanced in mid-1970's. Helped found LaPorte, Indiana amateur radio club in 1959, held offices of President, Vice President and Programming Manager as well as started team to build first repeater in LaPorte, IN. mid- 1960's. Part of team who commissioned 440 repeater for Chicago FM club and established a UHF repeater in LaPorte County. I hold a General Class Commercial license and have been a part owner and operator/technical manager for an RCC Mobile telephone service. Built first 904 Mhz Commercial repeater in Chicagoland Area.

Graduated from Purdue University in 1970- Electrical Engineering and Notre Dame University in 1972 Computer Science.

Favorite bands are 15M & 20M Phone, 2M FM and 440 (70 CM) but have capabilities for 6M, 1-1/4M, 10M-160M. both fixed and mobile. (Yes, my car looks like a porcupine).Just added  ic-7100 so we now have D-Star capability- W9WHF  /7100 via Nashville,TN Gateway,K4CPO ( (2M). Just acquired two ID-5100's and a new ID-51A+. Also Love our new IC-7300's. Liked the first so much had to have one for vacation.

XYL is K4LLD and my son just received his license  taking my long-term call, K9WHF/8.

Training my 2-1/2 year old grandson Garrett Faraday Decker with the ARRL License manual as he sleeps.The tradition MUST continue.
