Cory Sickles, WA3UVV, was first licensed as a Novice in 1974. Today, he holds an Extra Class license and is active on HF, plus many of the VHF and UHF bands. He started experimenting with electronics and building circuits while still in elementary school. He built much of his first station and continues to enjoy kit building and home brewing today - whether it's state of the art designs or "the glow of old friends" - vacuum tubes.

Cory has an extensive background in computer systems as well, having designed and built his first system, based on the Intel 8008. He has professionally designed, programmed and maintained thousands of systems. His current computer projects involve a DEC PDP-11/73 and a PDP-8 retro kit.
He works as a television producer and creates marketing, fund raising, documentary and instructional programming as well as providing broadcast engineering and consulting services to others.
He has authored many magazine articles over the years and wrote the columns "Off the Air" and "Personal Communications" (formerly "CB and More") for CQ Plus - the digital magazine enhancement of CQ.  He now writes the monthly "Emergency Communications" column for CQ, while "Off the Air" appears quarterly.  He also authors a monthly column for The Spectrum Monitor, entitled "Digitally Speaking" - focusing on digital voice radios and methodologies, like DMR, D-STAR, NXDN, P25 and System Fusion.  In addition, he is working on a guide to help clubs grow and thrive as leaders to the amateur radio community, plus a series of childrens books as an homage to one of his dogs.
Additionally, he is a VE and has taught classes to hundreds of people entering the amateur radio community, as well as upgrades. Cory remains thankful for the many "Elmers" he had from the Uniontown Amateur Radio Club, when starting out. He tries to continue the tradition by mentoring others individually and through public speaking. Cory also serves as the ARRL SNJ section Public Information Coordinator.
Although he has involved himself in many facets of amateur radio, his strongest interests are QRP, DIY and long "rag chew" conversations with hams throughout the world. Cory is a proud member of the ARRL, Gloucester County Amateur Radio Club (W2MMD), New Jersey QRP Club, Gloucester City Amateur Radio Club (NJ2GC), Uniontown Amateur Radio Club (W3PIE), Monongalia Wireless Association (W8MWA), Straight Key Century Club and Vintage Computer Federation (formerly MARCH).
He can often be found on D-STAR reflector 020B, 063B or in one of the many emerging WIRES-X rooms.
Aside from radio and electronics, Cory enjoys cooking, learning about life in other countries and still photography.
