A former New Jersey boy and Rutgers engineering graduate, I am retired from GE and living the good life in Franklin County, Virginia, USA, with my XYL, 4 dogs, an old horse, and several cats. I use my tractors to bush-hog, make hay on my farms, haul rocks, and occasionally scrape my driveway when it snows.

In the above picture's background, you can see Smith Mountain. That's where the dam is located. Smith Mountain Lake has over 500 miles of shoreline. My house is about three miles from the lake. Two of my farms have creeks that eventually empty into the lake.

I was involved with amateur radio in the 60's and 70's, then got out of it for a while. Now I'm back with an Icom 706 MK2G. You can find me on all the bands when I'm not doing farm chores or yard work. My house sits on a hill, so I can get out pretty good with only modest equipment.

Now that I'm retired, I've also gotten interested in the law. I read law books and go to the local court to watch cases.

The XYL is a retired middle-school and Ferrum College teacher, who does freelance writing and blogs. Her blog, "Peevish Pen," is http://peevishpen.blogspot.com ; she sometimes mentions me on it. Her writing web-site is http://www.beckymushko.com but she rarely mentions me on that one. My website is http://wa4mkz.webs.com, but I rarely update it, so most of the pictures are a few years old.
