I was first licensed as WN5MAF in March of 1965.  My Elmer, W5NFC, shortened my middle name for me and I have been using Wes on the air since.  My Novice license expired while I was in San Diego at the Navy Recruit Training Center.  During boot camp I meet Jim Bonkowski, W6LFB.  A year later in April, Jim gave me my Technician exam just before my ship left San Diego for a West-Pac tour.  When the ship arrived in Pearl Harbor, HI, I was transfered to another ship.  My Tech license chased me around the Pacific and finally caught up with me back in SanDiego in November.  Since that time I have been WA5TKU.  I passed my Advanced exam in the late 70's and my Extra when the code requirements dropped to 13 wpm for Extra's.

Currently I am active on 6 and 2 meter meteor scatter most mornings.  You can catch me on Ping Jockey most mornings during the week.  If you are interested in a sked look for me there.  I use LOTW and reply to all QSL cards received.  Currently, slowly, rebuilding my VHF, UHF and Microwave station.

I am a founding member of the North Texas Microwave Society (NTMS) and current treasurer.
