Welcome to my QRZ page.

My interest in amateur radio began the late 1960s.

In 1969 I earned my Novice license, call sign WN6MNV. In 1971 I upgraded to a General and then Advanced Class license, WA6MNV. Thanks to some urging by fellow hams my interest was recently rekindled and I was excited to upgrade to Extra.

The primary HF radio is a Yaesu FT-DX1200 alongside a Drake L-4B amplifier.  HF antennas for 20, 40 and 80 are coaxial inverted vees with the apex at approximately 65 feet.

WA6MNV can also be heard on local VHF/UHF repeaters.  Recently I’ve become interested in digital radio especially D-Star and Echo Link.

Radio has always been a major part of my life as I was in commercial broadcasting first as a disc jockey and then a program director in several cities throughout the United States including  El Paso, TX,  Riverside, CA, New Orleans, LA and Sacramento, CA just to name a few.

Currently, I work at the California State Legislature as a radio consultant for members of the Senate and Assembly.

Amateur radio is such an awesome hobby and I look forward to meeting you on the air.
