Mammoth Mountain (11,053 Feet elevation, 3370 meters)--27 April 2015 (a very meager snowfall this winter!)  The mountain has over 3500 acres (1400 hectares) of terrain to ski with over 150 runs and 28 lifts.

Mammoth Mountain February 2016 with a mid-mountain snow base depth of 125 inches (3.2 meters)!

Our house-winter 2016-17.  Most snow ever recorded in Mammoth
over the last 70 year history!

I received my novice license (WV6MRK) in 1960 at the age of 13 years old. After passing my General exam, I was active on the HF bands using AM and RTTY (using a Teletype Model 26!!)  and the 2M band using voice FM until 1968. In 2000, after missing the renewal time window, I re-tested and received my amateur extra and applied for a vanity call to get my original call back. After 44 years, retiring after 50 years working at UCLA in biomedical electronics,  and relocating from Southern California to the East side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, I re-activated my station during the summer of 2012 using my old AM equipment (a Johnson Viking Ranger and Collins 75A-1). Shortly after that I acquired a current station (an Elecraft K-line) and now I am back on the air!

I send my best wishes to those reading this and look forward to another or future QSO with you soon.

NOTE:  I believe that, if requested, it is an expected courtesy after a QSO to exchange confirmation of the contact.  I prefer either a card sent by mail or an LoTW entry.  I will always promptly return a card received (no return postage necessary) .

Avalon 50 mile run on Catalina Island, California--I completed this race 22 times and frequently finishing in the top 10 (in my younger years!).
