The picture in the upper left hand corner shows a bridge and in the background is Mount Rainier which is approximately 14,400 feet high. This bridge is approximately 1/2 mile long and services the island year-round. When it is sunny it shows up very beautiful and the background. It's something that we take this scene as a beautiful part of the Puget Sound area.

Transmitters: HF Kenwood TS 830 S, and Yaesu FT 840, FT 450D, VHF Kenwood TM-231A , UHF TM-451A, TM-731A for the mobile, Yaesu FT-60R and  Icom IC-04AT HT's.

Antennas: 160, 80, 40, and 30, meter dipoles.  HF5B five band 2 element beam butternut, 11 element Cushcraft 2 meter beam, and 11 element Cushcraft 70 cm beam.  Radio tower: homemade, self-supporting, fold over 56 foot steel tower with a Ham  IV rotor  system. The base is 6'-0" square and 5 '-0"  deep with concrete and reinforce re-bar with 12 anchor bolts going down into the concrete approximately 3 1/2 feet. There is a picture of the foundation and boat winch to the lower the top of the tower down to the ground. This tower I do not have to climb which is the best one to choose for safety and easy to work on the antenna and the big plus to work on the tower itself.    Data controller:   PK232  Commodore 128 computer system  with packrat  software  for  CW , BAUDOT,   AMTOR and  PACKET.

The station is located on a hilltop site at 346 the above sea level. Were approximately 1/4 mile from the water. Fox Island is located in the South Puget Sound approximately 10 miles from Gig Harbor. We have connecting bridge from the mainland to the island approximately 1/2 mile long bridge that services the island year-round. We are on a 1 by 5 mile Island with approximately 1500 families living on the island. Were across the water from Tacoma, Washington and also we have a spectacular view of Mount. Rainer and the Cascade Mountains to the east and to the west the Olympic Mountains.
