Occupation (Engineer), (retired). Hobbies include Ham radio, Geomagnetic anomalies, Schumann Resonance, Very Low Frequency, Extremely Low Frequency and Ultra Low Frequency. Former callsigns: WB9NS and WB9NSZ. Although I have the capability to operate all bands I prefer 160 Meters. That's where you will find me. I have been away from Ham Radio for 29 years and finally resuming activity. A benefit of being retired. The antenna shown in the photos has been modified. It is now a 45 foot version of a 160 Meter Spider Antenna. Basically it is 65 feet of wire pulled out making the antenna look like a Christmas Tree. There are two 70 foot horizontal wires at the top for top loading. The antenna system is fed with a tuner. There are 8 radials one quarter wavelength long. This will have to do until the full size vertical goes up in the Spring. I am also working on the Beverage antennas. By next year the station should be maximized. The second antenna is a 40/20 meter birdcage antenna. I am still in the process of setting this station up. From 1974 until 1979 I worked as a radio repair technician for AES, (Amateur Electronic Supply), in Milwaukee, Wi. So allot of my equipment is 1970's vintage Ham gear. All rebuilt and restored to new condition. Since I remember how to work on it all. The Yaesu FT-1000, the shacks latest piece of gear was inherited from one of my friends and mentors who passed away last year. I am grateful he left it for me along with several other pieces of equipment. At the bottom is a photo of 120 feet of six inch diameter irrigation pipe. It will become a 120 foot tall vertical cage antenna over the next few months. It will also have 8 quarter wave radials elevated to act as a counterpoise. It will become my 160 meter antenna. The Beverage antenna for 160 Meters is complete. 585 Feet long, reversing. Photo at the bottom of this page. Yes I know it is mounted above a barb wire fence but it works great. Also as of January 9th. a Yaesu FT-1000MP Mark 5 Field was added to the shack. Nice radio and I finished adding the roofing filters making it even better.
