I originally earned my novice ticket wn0vqg in Leadville Colorado (10,250 ft above sea level) while working underground at the Climax Mine in 1976.Then life got in the way of the radio. I ran heavy equipment and groomed ski slopes for half a lifetime and spent 5 years operating steam locomotives both narrow gauge and standard gauge. My father-in-law encouraged me back into radio, I talk to him every morning on 75m. Upgraded to Extra class Nov 2013.

I operate a Kenwood TS-570 a home brew 20m dipole and a 2 element 75m inverted V wire yagi, a 17m dipole and a 3 element 10m beam with an arm strong-rotator. I just aquired a Heathkit SB-220 built by my good friend's father in the mid 70's. The Heathkit HW-101 that I built in 1976 still works too.
