First licensed WN2FKO in Tonawanda, NY in 1975 at age 15. I am currently a senior staff scientist in the physics department at the University of New Mexico. My primary amateur radio interest is weak signal VHF and VHF contesting. I attained VUCC #721 on 144 MHz almost entirely by digital meteor scatter.  Currently have 29 states and 130 grids confirmed on that band without using EME. In 2016, I helped launch the New Mexico VHF Society.  For more info about my activities, please visit my webpage

The above photo shows me and my girlfriend KG5FHU in White Sands, NM; May 2016.

I have a strong preference for LOTW over paper QSLs.  The service is fast, free, and reliable.  As of July 2017, I have worked 371 of the 488 grids needed for the FFMA on 6m.  I have confirmations for 283 of those grids, the vast majority of which have been via LOTW.  My experience indicates that anyone seriously pursuing FFMA or VUCC endorsements should be prepared to invest considerable effort, time, and money exchanging QSL cards by regular mail.
