Ham Member Lookups: 1372

Hello Everyone!

In 1974 (at age 14), I got my Novice license, built a Heathkit HW-16 (someone else then made it work!), strung an 80/40 meter dipole on the roof, and I was in business. A year later, I had my Advanced ticket, and upgraded my station to a Ten-Tec Argonaut 505 with the matching linear. A Hygain 3-band vertical joined the dipole on the roof. Worked a lot of DX and had a great time. Thanks to my friend WA6BIJ and his Dad who helped me get started.

Sold it all when I went to college :(

Forgot about ham radio for 20 years, then I picked up an old FT-101E at a swap meet, and the interest returned.  Passed the Amateur Extra class exam in 2000, and finally got back on the air in 2004. Nowadays, I am running a TS-480 with a Butternut vertical on the roof.

Enjoy CW (15-20 WPM) and chasing DX. Holder of DXCC and WAS awards (both on CW).

Also enjoy collecting/restoring broadcast receivers and tubes from the 1920's and 30's.

Will answer all QSLs (not that anyone needs another W6 - Hi!)

Thanks for visiting, and hope to CU on the air!

73, Chuck
