After 28 years of pleasant CW rag chews on 40 and 80 meters, I decided in 1998 to see if I could obtain my first DXCC certificate. The first 100 DXCC entities were easy, so I kept going. I made it to 250 with my sloper and inverted vee, then in 2001 I finally put up my first beam, a Force 12 C3ss at 40 feet. Now in 2016 I am at 336 worked and new ones are tough to find. But the hunt and chase are exhilarating and rewarding. Most of the time.

My XYL Lily was born in Qingdao, China, and I have been lucky to have been able to do a little hamming during our visits to China in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2008, and 2010. I have operated using the callsigns BY1BY, BY4LB, WB8FSV/BA4IT, WB8FSV/BD4JV, WB8FSV/BD4XA, and VR2DXA (from VR2XMT's home).

We may return to China in June of 2017. I hope to operate again from my friend Mr Liu, BA4IT's station in Qingdao, using the callsign WB8FSV/BA4IT. This will be a spare time operation. May the elusive gods of radio propagation smile upon us with beneficence.

Good DX and CW Forever, Jack WB8FSV
