Grew up in Manhattan Ks. Attending Kansas State University. Went into the US Navy as a cadet, then on to flight training. Appointed as a carrier pilot, and flew 192 missions during Viet Nam. Operated in the Pacific theature from 1966 to 1970. Married a girl from Pensacola, Florida. Had three children, 1 son, 2 daughters. Son Killed in 1996, divorced in 1997. Both daughters live  live in the St. Louis area. Two grand daughters. After my Navy days were over, got into sales with Playtex.  I then worked for HON.  In the mid 80's the flying bug got me and I flew for Mobil Oil.  I had the opportunity to fly Tammy Wynette, Barbara Mandril, and Kenny Rodgers , amoung others.  Of the three, I flew Tammy more than the others. The towers always got a kick out of Tammy talking on the aircraft radio.  A sales opportunity came up and I became a National Sales Manager for 9 years, first for a Flying J company then accepted the position of National Sales Manager for Chadmoore Communications, a two way radio related company out of Las Vegas Neveda. Company bought out by NEXTEL.  Worked at British Petroleum (BP) till 2009, when I had a stroke that affected my right side. Now medically retired.. Besides interests in Ham Radio, spend time with photography, Photoshop and the computer.. Since the stroke, these two activites are hard to accomplish.  Still do Photoshop but taking photos is hard as all camera buttons are on the right side of the camera. Left the ham radio hobby in the mid 80's but finally got back in 1998. Finally upgraded to extra after 25 years. Rigs are the Ten Tec Paragon,,various dual band vhf/uhf units including aprs via kenwood d700. HF antenna is a 5btv vertical ground mounted. Lately I have gotten into DMR, a TYT 2017, a TYT 390, and several Baofeng DM-5r's.  Went to a Shark RF Openspot; best investment ever.   Prior to the stroke, I was active in the Mo. section of the ARRL, I had Been a VE and OOC for Missouri Section.. Favorite mode was CW, though PSK made an impact as I have not learned how to send code with my left hand.. Enjoy using ham radio skills for public service events and emergencies.. The ARRL asked me to go to Biloxi, MS during Katrina. I was there from day 3 to day 25.   I have often spoke of my time there as "Field Day for real". Events such as the, MS150, Scottish Games. Worlds Fair Celebration, Louis and Clark events, Pro and club rally events,(off road car racing) including the 100 Acre Road Rally , Ojibewi, Cherokee, Paris Tx, Snowdrift. Been doing rally comms since 1977 here in Missouri as well as other states. President of the St. Charles Radio Club in 1983 and 2005,  2 years prior as Secretary for St. Charles Amateur Radio Club. CERT grad, have done some teaching on CERT. Completed Medical First Responder Jan 2005 under the Red Crioss. Appointed as State OOC in 2007 after 5 years as an OO for Missouri Section.
