I started in Amateur Radio as a Novice around 1970 as WN4TCJ (WB4-prefix timeframe) in eastern, NC. My Elmer was WA6BJH. High School Activities and College interrupted my Amateur Radio involvement and eventually my Novice Ticket expired. After completing my undergraduate engineering degree, I resumed my Amateur Radio Radio involvement by upgrading to Technician,General, andthen Advanced as WD4CWG in the late 1970's.I was active mostly on VHF FM and in the early days of Packet in Florida(FADCA). Motorcycling, Marriage, Post-Graduate school and workagain put Amateur Radio on the back burner until just recently.

I upgraded to Extra in 2010 and have commited to make up for lost time. I have acquired a Yaesu FT-897 and an Icom IC-7100 for base use on SSB, PSK31 and CW on HF; a Yaesu FT-857D and a FT-817 for mobile and portable operation. I have also acquired a Flex 1500 for experimenting with SDR on HF. I work charity events combining motorcycle escort and communications duties using a Yaesu FT-270R or KenwoodTH-D72A for 2M FM and APRS. For D-STAR I use an IC-91AD, ID-31A, ID-51A, ID-880H, IC-2820, IC-7100, and ID-1, as well as a DV-Dongle and DVAP.

I look forward to meeting you on the air or in person.
