I started in ham radio in 1988, I started with my fathers (wn7vcu) novice set of Drakes 2-C, 2-NT and 2-CQ. I still have them and plan getting them back online someday. I enjoy working with my Drake 4-C line, Icom IC706 mk11G and my Kenwood TS-520. I like both the glow in the dark and new tech radios.

There is a great group of ham radio operators in my local area. It’s nice to be surrounded with all the knowledge and expertise that each ham gives when someone needs help.

I also belong to a great ham club, W7DG. This is were my roots started in Search and Rescue in 1987. The club has a group of people that train in searching for E.L.T. (emergency locating transmitter) which are in airplanes. As I stay active with E.L.T. team, I also belong to our local (ground pounding) Search and Rescue team. It is were I mastered my skills in Wilderness Navigation, Man tracking, Water Rescue, Project Lifesaver and many other search tactics along with technical rescue skills

I have other hobbies, I like Hiking, backpacking, photography, target shooting, restoring old vehicles when I can find the time!!!

Well I’d better go for now. Thanks for spending the time to check out my call on QRZ.
