Blessed with sharing the best life a man could want with K2RIY and our newest addition-Tori, our fourth golden retreiver puppy and turning 1 in June 2015; as well as Nugget our third golden retreiver who is 6.

I was first licensed in 1973 as WN2UBG and went on to Technician as WB2UBG after a year then upgraded to Advanced in 1976 and worked on the Bicentennial WAS and completed it in December 1976. Somewhere along the line got handed the phonetics "Ugly Big Gorilla". So it went on through K2UBG until I thought a short call would work better in the pileups. It has.

Member of Old Barney Amateur Radio Club- http://www.obarc.org/, South JerseyDX Association- http://www.sjdxa.org/and Last but by no means least the 835 User Group http://146835.org where I can be found; tone is 127.3hz.

Still trying to catch W1DIG aka The KING. WHAT WOULD LOU DO?

Started getting serious October 2011. Applied for DXCC through LOTW (the ultimate lazy)on 6-18-2012, received # 46,510( a very exclusive club; Eh? )on 6-22-2012.Had 40 qsls from countries worked in the 70's and early 80's PK ( pre-kids ). Presently at 275 confirmed as of 3-5-2016. The hunt continues primarily on wire except for a 10 meter 3 element yagi about 15 feet high and an Imax 2000 same height.

Equipment is a K3 with the new low noise synthesizers upgrade; with the lower noise floor it's like undiscovered  country. Also the sub-receiver and and pack of filters. The IF display which is now a flex 1500 it works great and for a serious SDR junkie I still feel like I can see where I'm going and what's going in the general neighborhood. The amp is an Alpha 8410 and using separate dipoles on 80 and 30 also separate 20m and 40 meter Delta Loops that are fed by a 72 ohm matching section of RG-11. I have what a number of us on 3787 refer to as W1DIG quad Lou-ps on 17 and 15 with 72 ohm matching sections made of RG-11. The dipoles work, the loops work great. Quiet and I can run 1kw in/0 watts reflected. After I get the EZ-way 40' back up I will be looking into a modest yagi!

Have a 3 ring halo/new version on 6m at 25 feet and summers see 6m ssb activity.

Thanks for reading if you made it this far. 73s John/WU2E

"Amateur Radio operators have provided the vital link time and time again, tirelessly and without fanfare, and you do so at your own expense. Your system is fail safe because it involves passionate individuals who have their own equipment and are dedicated to getting the job done and the message through."
