My name is Thomas.  I have been involved with Amateur radio practically my whole life, whether it was watching and listening to my parents operate the Alaskan Iditarod in the late 70's to actually earning my Technician license in the early 90's.  I stayed on the local repeaters on 2M and 70cm and didn't get on HF hardly at all.  My father, Tom Moore WX4TM (SK), was extremely involved in amateur radio from being involved in ARRL, and Skywarn to many, many contests.  He died in 2010 very suddenly.  In 2011, I decided to upgrade to General on my fathers 1 year death anniversary, sort of a tribute to him. I became W4MTM. I thought of it as a cross between my first call, KD4WNA, and his call WX4TM, and my mothers call WX4MM. My mother, Mary Moore WX4MM, is still involved in amateur radio from time to time getting on and supporting MMRS and a few contests here and there.  On my fathers 5 year death anniversay, in 2015,  I thought it would be fitting to surprise my mother and upgrade to Extra class without her knowing it.  She was very surprised when she found out I had become an extra class holder.  With her permission, I took WX4TM as a tribute to my father and to keep the call alive!  Since that time, I have become more active on 20, 40 and 80 meters and look forward to participating in some contesting.
