Born in Smiltene in 1971,lived there for many years and moved to local center Valka in 1994.Since that time I'm operating from here.

First time on the air I was from Smiltene Club station UQ1GWE in 1985, at the age of 14, then back in 1989 I've got my personal callsign - UQ2GTW and started to operate with that. In 1991 it was changed to YL2TW as it is today. I like to work in various contests with a special contest call YL9T, collect countries for DXCC as most of us do. Thanks for Your interest about me. See You on the bands!

Sometimes I work from the countryside QTH where noise level practically does not exist and where I have a quite good antenna for 160m - wire Inverted L with vertical part about 28m hanging down from the top of the very tall fir-tree with 8 elevated radials. 80m delta with a balun 2.5:1 works fine on other bands. Height of the delta is somewhere about 25 meters for the horizontal upper side and about 12 meters for the downsloping apex where it is feeded in. For better signal reception I have 6 180m long beverages. The grid is KO37CH from there.

P.S. If You send me direct QSLs and hope to receive mine the same way, don't forget the SAE with 2 "green stamps"(1 USD DOES NOT cover postal expenses even to EU countries!). Please no IRCs anymore as their future is unknown.

If interested, it is possible to get my QSL without sending me Your's, as most of  them are not needed for me(no new band/slots for my awards).Just send me 2.5EUR(not 2 USD!) via Paypal and I will confirm the QSOs with direct QSL. As Paypal is taking 21% of this as a comission fee, I am getting only 1.97EUR on my Paypal account. Thus I save Your money and time too. You do not need to send me any QSL(printing expenses) by post(postal expenses, envelopes, 2USD). Imagine, that You send me Your usual printed QSL by usual post with SAE and 2 USD enclosed. You will have to pay for post service also. Does it all cost less than 2 EUR?

My Paypal address will be given in e-mail. Do not send any Paypal money to e-mail account shown above in my profile here!

Kind request for eQSL and LoTW users. PLEASE, if You work me as YL2TW/P, upload Your logs to any of two systems as for QSO with YL2TW/P! There are separate accounts for each YL2TW and YL2TW/P. That will save me lot of time I spend in crosschecking logs, what is wrong and why do the QSO is not automatically confirmed. Otherwise I have to check each of such QSO manually, but I have too much other things to do......

I am a supporter of theDX Code of Conduct:

  • I will listen, and listen, and then listen again before calling.
  • I will only call if I can copy the DX station properly.
  • I will not trust the DX cluster and will be sure of the DX station's call sign before calling.
  • I will not interfere with the DX station nor anyone calling and will never tune up on the DX frequency or in the QSX slot.
  • I will wait for the DX station to end a contact before I call.
  • I will always send my full call sign.
  • I will call and then listen for a reasonable interval. I will not call continuously.
  • I will not transmit when the DX operator calls another call sign, not mine.
  • I will not transmit when the DX operator queries a call sign not like mine.
  • I will not transmit when the DX station requests geographic areas other than mine.
  • When the DX operator calls me, I will not repeat my call sign unless I think he has copied it incorrectly.
  • I will be thankful if and when I do make a contact.
  • I will respect my fellow hams and conduct myself so as to earn their respect.
