G'day from Gisborne. The first city in the world to see the sun rise everyday.

The day starts here. (so if you want the lottery numbers first, write your name on a blank cheque and send it to me)

Also the Chardonnay capital of New Zealand.

I was born back in '45 in the UK and emigrated to New Zealand in 1967. I returned to the UK for my eldest daughter's health in 1979 and took the Amateur Radio exam in '83 taking the call G1NFD then upgrading to G0LBP before returning to ZL and being given the present call. (I love it... hi).

Divorced and now married to a ham friendly Scots lass, Adriana. (Yes I know it's not a scots name. She has Italian and Dutch roots).

Radio interests are DXing, Contesting and antennas. Station is capable of HF psk31, rtty, SSTV, JT65 as well as ssb and a little cw. Also UHF, VHF packet and APRS. You may see me on PSK31 on 30m, or JT65 any band including 160m.

My antennas consist of three element mono band beam for 20m and a 17m three element mono-band at approx 50ft, a Carolina Windom for 160m thru' 10m at 50ft plus 40m Bobtail curtain NE/SW and 30m full wave square loop NNW/SSE. Plus a W3DZZ at 10m agl for emergency communications with the Icom. All home brew except for the Carolina Windom. When needed various dipoles go up for special contacts. I try to make my antennas resonant so not needing an ATU. I'm always experimenting with antennas.

Rigs are IC725 for data with a Signalink and FT1000 for main HF. Both can be connected to an SPE Expert 1.3K amp. The IC725 is used for portable/back up/emergency use with a W3DZZ antenna for local emergency working. Also, I have a 125AH SLA battery for emergency communicatiions if/when required. The IC725 runs off this.

I own and operate with a friend a UHF repeater and data repeater also for emergency and local working on a hill approx. 2kM away.

Home station(s). LHS data and RHS main station. (2010)

UHF repeater and VHF digi. Roger ZL2RC the part owner/tech. working on it. (2009)

Guns too. For fun nowadays.

"TK" about to 'rustle' up some DX

QSL no problems direct. Not e-qsl. I can receive via the buro and can send a return via the buro. I'm doing my bit to save the planet and will only QSL to requests. I recommend direct only. Unfortunately two green stamps is just short of enough to cover postage so please enclose at least two for direct returns. Current IRC's are still fine in ZL for the time being.

I regularly upload my log to Clublog and LOTW.

If you are a ZL county hunter I'm in Waikohu County. Send me an E-mail for a sked.

I am still looking to work the following States on JT65. If you can help, please send me an e-mail to set up a sked;

SD, and  WY. If you see "E9SD/WY ZL2CC" please give me a call. If you operate 160m JT65hf I would love a sked.

I only run a maximum of 50 watts and usually 30 watts on all digital modes.

Who are my radio elmers?

G4AMN for introducing me to ham radio

G0LCU for helping me 'modify' things

ZL2RVW (ex G4RVW) for introducing me to contesting/DXing

ZL2AL for teaching me contesting, DXing and how to fight cancer. Now unfortunately SK.

My present XYL Adriana for encouraging me to 'go work some'

Tnx guys

chase the dx-get it in the log.

73 Mike

PS. Over the years I may have forgotten to send you your QSL card. If I still owe you a card, e-mail me with the details.

PPS. Japan, your cards are always so beautiful, but unless you really want a ZL card from me, please save your money/card. I don't need another JA card especially for JT modes. However, if you need one, e-mail me or OQRS and I'll send one ASAP.

For ZM4T info go to zm2m.com

Also Google ZM90DX and ZL4AA. Aniversary stations
