Update 1 Jan 2018: I have now acquired an Openspot and a Yaesu FT-70DR and now reside on the ZL2VH-YSF reflector.

Update 22 Jun 2016: I now have a D-Star hotspot thanks to John ZL2TWS, DV-RPTR v1 into Raspberry Pi2  and on air using a Yaesu Ft 8800 and now on air 431.25 mhz. I am now the very happy owner/operator of a Yaesu FT-817ND, LDG Z-817 auto-tuner and a Buddipole delux. Considering getting some of the "Wolphi" apps to explore over modes etc.

Someone keeps offering me Icom ID-5100 at very good prices and I keep buying them...now have one for my vehicle.

Update 25 March 2015, My transition to the "Dark Side" is almost complete with the arrival of an Icom ID-5100A as a base rig. I also have 1 ID-51A D-STAR handheld.

Amateur licence gained July 15 2014. Starting on 2m and 70cm. As I get more equipment, I will be looking towards APRS, and PSK31 once I get into HF.

Local IRLP node is #6931 (2m 147.3mhz) and #6962 (6m 53.950mhz)

DSTAR Repeaters are ZL2VH  B and ZL2VH  C.

Currently I have a Yaesu FT857D,FT-817ND, FT8800R (D-Star hotspot), 2x Icom 5100A, Icom ID-51A, Yaesu FT-70DR and Shark-RF Openspot, 3 Baofeng UV-5R with a Yaesu FRG-7,and Sony 2010D for SWL.

I have joined the local branch (63) http://www.zl2vh.org.nz/ and am a member of the NZART  http://www.nzart.org.nz/
