Many thanks to Peter (8P9NX), who helped us to organize this trip, the accommodation and the amateur radio license for 8P. We had a great time together!

First of all I started ham radio in the early 1970's as SWL. I'm licensed since 1975 with the callsign DC4HL (for VHF and higher frequencies), upgraded to class A (for all frequencies) since 1977 with the callsign DF1XC. I keep this callsign until now.

My former and other callsigns are: DC4HL, DN1XC*, W8/DF1XC, LA/DF1XC, 8P9XC, OZ/DF1XC, SV3/DF1XC, OK/DF1XC, DP5R**, IC8/DF1XC, TF/DF1XC, LX/DF1XC, F/DF1XC

I'm mostly QRV in my favorite mode CW on HF (all shortwave bands). I like hunting DX-stations. You also can hear me as DF1XC/P or DF1XC/MM in CW-mode with QRP 0.5 - 5 wtts on all HF bands (include WARC).

I'm member of the German Amateur Radio Club DARC, district Y (Brandenburg), chapter Cottbus.

My main rig is a KENWOOD TS-590S with 100 wtts output into a homemade GP antenna (8,60 m long on top of the roof) optionally into a End Fed homebrew antenna with Balun. My vintage rig is an 40-years old Drake TR-4C (many thanks to PA2DW for restoration!) The keyers are a KENT twin paddle, a N3ZN-keyer (Ironman) and a 50-years old JUNKER handkeyer.

My QRP rig is a YAESU FT-817 ND up to 5 wtts output with a LDG Z-817 antenna tuner into a multiband vertical antenna (Outback 2012) or a Buddipole. The keyer is a PALM mini paddle.

I'm QRV with the call DF1XC/MM on board the vessel "Joana" mostly in CW-mode on all HF bands or FM on VHF (2 m band).

You also can reach me on board with inland water radio (UBI) or maritime radio (SRC) under DF4938.

Special callsign DM100CTK from 2014 May to 2015 April.

Prof. Dr. med. Carl Thiem was the founder of the trauma and reconstructive surgery in Germany. He wrote and published 1898 the trendsetting handbook "Compendium of Trauma Diseases depend on own Medical Experience".

To honor his work the German Society of Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery dedicate the "Carl-Thiem medal" for special archievements in this speciality.

1914 he established a modern hospital in Cottbus for the fast growing population in the age of industrialisation. According to the name of "Carl Thiem" the hospital is nowadays the largest in the State of Brandenburg.
