I was first licensed in 1956, in the good old AM days! I went through the home-build phase during my first 6 years of operation and still have two examples in the attic to prove it!
I operated as 9G1EE from Tema in Ghana during 1962 and 1963, an experience I will never forget.
I am now retired after a career in broadcast transmission engineering, which included installation, transmitting station design, management and consultancy and spanned more than 35 years. I am active mainly on HF these days although I do have 2M and 70cm facilities. I use the original FT1000 and a 25 year old 3 element TET tribander at 13M above the ground for 20, 15 and 10M and a trap dipole fed with 450 ohm ladder feeder for the lower bands.
My other hobbies include computing, digital photography and travel.
My XYL Lory, is originally from Michigan, but has lived in the UK since we were married in 1971. She holds the call G1NBU and following the recent UK licence changes, now has full HF privileges.
