Hi there!

Originally licensed as G8DNC (2m band and upwards) in February 1970. I obtained my all band (Class A) license G4STA in April 1983. During these periods, I lived in Biggin Hill, Kent (close to the famous WWII airfield).

I came to work in the Canary Islands (La Palma) in 1986, but as I'm not that active have used the call EA8/G4STA - somewhat illegally cheeky  and I should really apply for a Spanish EA8 license! I am currently looking into what is required paperwork wise to do this. I now have a UK HAREC which is prerequisite to obtain a Spanish license.

I have worked on most modes on the HF and the 2m/70cms bands including the data modes RTTY, AMTOR and PACKET and more recently PSK31, WSPR and JT9/65. I haven't used CW for years and have now sadly lost the ability to read Morse at 12wpm!

In the 1990's, I specialised in satellite operations and ran a PACSAT station running under WiSP. I also worked through Oscars AO13 and AO40 until their demise. I am not currently active on the AMSATS, but will remedy that situation when there are some more birds in orbit (that work) and a bit more sophisticated than FM repeaters - Hi  laugh

Rigs:

  • HF: Kenwood TS-570D and TS-430S
  • VHF/UHF: Kenwood TS-790E and a Yaesu FT-480R

Antennas:

  • HF - The 'ubiquitous' G5RV wink
  • VHF/UHF - 2m 10XY and 70cms 12XY both JAYBEAMS with circular polarization. Some 40 years old now and reconditioned many times - Not currently erected. Re my comment above.

Please, No 'paper' QSL cards as I have none to return or a member these days of a society which runs a QSL bureau.

Best 73's and good DX.
