My activity in radio begins in 1990, with a small CB. I spent a lot of time talking with my friends and trying to get the most out of a small antenna.

In 1994 I got the "Special Ham Radio Licence", with callsign IW3AXQ. Using a Th-78E I spent a lot of time talking, mostly FM simplex and packet (AEA PK232mbx). I enjoyed listening HF traffic, using TS440AT.

In 1995 my callsign changed into IW6CZU. After a lot of packet activity (co-founder of IZ6DDQ hamradio gateway for tcp/ip traffic), I began exploring SSB segment of VHF band. I bought an used IC260E, a yagi antenna and got involved in contesting. I managed to reach the second place on a national SSB contest.

My callsign changed again into IZ6CUS, and I began to explore HF. I took part in CQ-WW SSB contest, Single Operator All Bands, Low Power.

Activity stopped in 2000, due to work occupation and loss of interest.

In 2006 I decided to put some alluminium on the roof of my house and to restart my radio activity. I bought new filters for my TS440AT, a new keyer (MFJ-422B), a new VHF/UHF equipment (Yaesu FT-736R) and a new handheld (Puxing px-777).

In 2009 my shack has been growing. I bought an used Ft-857D which I use in my car. Great radio!

I'm interested in 2m operation, both FM and SSB, 70cm chatting and 6m openings. I'm active on 6m with a fixed HB9CV but i like this band. In HF I'm a newbie with CW. I don't use SSB on HF!!!

In 2013 there where some changes in the shack equipment. I sold my FT736R with the promise "I'll get a new one next year". A month later i bought Kenwood Ts711. It's an old VHF monobander which fits perfectly with my Ts440. Now I'll try to get a Ts811 to complete frequency coverage on 70cm.

I'm an ETM (Electronische Transistor Morsetaste) collector. If you want to exchange information or need some photo, please contact me. Models in my collection are: ETM-SQ ETM-1c ETM-2B ETM-3B ETM-3C ETM-4C ETM-4M ETM-5C ETM-8C ETM-8C(ext)

After moving to a small city near Ancona, I'm going to change again my radio setup. For VHF/UHF operation there is now another FT-857D. In HF I still use the old TS440.

Hope to meet you on frequency!!! 73 ade
